What size is the sleep surface?
The Med-Mizer ActiveCare Rotation Bed is available in several width and length configurations depending on the model and options selected.
Standard Widths
- 36" (Standard)
- 42" (Wide)
Optional Lengths
- 80" (Standard)
- 84" (Extended)
- 88" (Extended)
Which Size Is Best?
- 36" × 80" — The most common homecare size and fits most patients.
- 42" × 80" — Ideal for larger patients, patients who move frequently during sleep, or those who need more caregiver working space.
- 84" and 88" lengths — Recommended for taller individuals (generally over 6'2") or when additional legroom is needed.
Does this bed support Fall Risk?
No, the Rotation bed only goes 12inch low to the ground. Not low enough for fall risk. the bed would have to be 9inch or lower to support fall risk. The Med-Mizer Rotation Bed is engineered to improve comfort, independence, caregiver assistance, and patient positioning. Its advanced rotation technology helps make transfers easier, reduces caregiver strain, and assists patients who have difficulty repositioning themselves in bed.
However, the Rotation Bed is not specifically designed as a fall-prevention bed.Fall prevention depends primarily on how low a bed can safely be lowered to the floor. While the Rotation Bed offers an adjustable hi-low height range for transfers and caregiving, it must maintain enough clearance for its advanced rotation mechanism and moving components. Because of this engineering design, it does not lower as close to the floor as dedicated ultra-low fall prevention beds.
For patients with a high risk of rolling out of bed or unassisted nighttime exits, a purpose-built low bed like the RetractaBed will provide better fall-risk protection. See RetractaBed: https://www.cfsmedicalequipment.com/product-page/untitled-product-2
Does this have a Residential Design
Yes. This bed comes with a Deluxe Bed Frame.
🏡 Furniture-style headboard and footboard for a more home-like appearance.
🛏️ Residential aesthetic that helps the bed fit better in a bedroom rather than looking like hospital equipment.
Does Insurance Cover this Smart Rotation Bed?
Unfortunately, no.
The Med-Mizer ActiveCare Rotation Bed is considered a premium specialty hospital bed, and in most cases it is not covered in full by Medicare or standard private insurance plans.
Why?
Most insurance plans, including Medicare, typically cover equipment that is considered medically necessary and falls within their approved benefit categories.
They generally cover standard items such as:
- Basic semi-electric hospital beds (when medical criteria are met)
- Standard full-electric hospital beds in some cases, depending on the payer
- Certain pressure-relief mattresses
- Other medically necessary DME that meets coverage requirements
The ActiveCare Rotation Bed includes advanced features such as:
- Rotation therapy
- Premium positioning functions
- Enhanced caregiver-assistance technology
- Residential furniture-style options (on applicable models)
These types of premium features are often considered upgrades beyond what standard insurance benefits cover.
