Maximizing Healthcare Spend

With Smarter Bed Design

Some of the most meaningful moments in patient care happen during everyday movement. A patient may never think about the engineering behind the hospital bed carrying them from one area to another, but they can certainly recognize when that experience feels controlled, stable, comfortable, and safe.

The hospital bed plays an important role in that experience. Beyond supporting the patient at bedside, advanced bed design can influence transportation, caregiver workflow, positioning, safety, and the confidence patients feel while receiving care.

For healthcare organizations, this makes the hospital bed much more than another equipment purchase. Construction quality, durability, serviceability, ease of operation, and safety features can all influence the long-term value of the investment.

A well-designed bed continues delivering value long after installation—supporting caregivers during demanding workflows while creating a more secure and comfortable environment for the people in their care.

Smarter Transportation.

More Connected Care.

Moving a patient through a healthcare environment can appear routine, but the experience can feel very different from the patient's perspective. Transportation to imaging, movement between departments, or returning from a procedure can create uncertainty at a time when the patient is already vulnerable.

Good equipment should help caregivers maintain control while keeping their attention focused on the patient.

ROTEC's optional VersaDrive motorized drive-assist system, available on select VersaTech configurations, is designed around that principle. Instead of requiring caregivers to fight the weight and momentum of a loaded hospital bed, VersaDrive provides powered assistance to help make transportation more manageable.

Once activated, the powered drive wheel engages with the floor and responds as the caregiver moves the bed. Integrated sensing technology assists with the caregiver's direction and walking speed, allowing the bed to move naturally while reducing the physical effort required during transportation.

When the caregiver releases the footboard, automatic braking helps bring the bed to a controlled stop.

Because the system is operated from the footboard area, caregivers can remain positioned where they can maintain greater awareness of both the patient and the bed's movement.

The drive system also operates from an independent battery that automatically recharges when the bed's main power cable is connected.

Built for the Reality of Everyday Care

Advanced medical equipment proves its value through repeated use.

Hospital beds may be repositioned, transported, cleaned, adjusted, and operated continuously throughout their service life. That means long-term performance depends on more than an impressive feature list. The underlying platform needs to balance strength, maneuverability, reliability, and practical serviceability.

The VersaTech platform is engineered with a lightweight yet rugged construction intended to provide that balance. The goal is straightforward: create a bed substantial enough for demanding care environments without making everyday handling unnecessarily difficult for caregivers.

That philosophy extends to one of VersaTech's most distinctive design characteristics—its ultra-low 8-inch deck height.

Lowering the patient closer to the floor can support safer bed-exit strategies by reducing the height from which a potential fall could occur. The low position can also help appropriate patients establish firmer foot placement when preparing to stand or transfer.

Even when equipped with the VersaDrive system, the compact drive mechanism is designed to preserve the bed's ultra-low positioning and under-bed clearance.

Advanced Design Without Unnecessary Compromise

A truly advanced hospital bed

A truly advanced hospital bed should not require choosing between safety, usability, durability, and functionality.

The VersaTech platform brings these priorities together in a system designed around both the patient and the caregiver. Its ultra-low architecture, advanced positioning capabilities, transportation options, and durable construction are intended to support demanding care environments while providing meaningful long-term equipment value.

For facilities evaluating capital medical equipment, that distinction matters.

The true cost of a hospital bed extends beyond its initial purchase price. Reliability, caregiver usability, maintenance requirements, transportation, safety features, service life, and equipment support all contribute to the overall return on the investment.

More Than Equipment

A Long-Term Care Investment

At CFS Medical Supplies and Equipment, we believe advanced medical equipment should be evaluated as a complete care solution rather than simply another product.

Our approach is centered on helping healthcare organizations and advanced-care customers understand the equipment, available configurations, functional differences, and long-term considerations behind their investment.

The objective isn't simply to provide another hospital bed.

It's to help identify equipment capable of delivering safer care, greater caregiver efficiency, dependable performance, and lasting value throughout its service life.

Unmatched Durability for Unmatched Patient Safety

An estimated 700,000 to 1 million patient falls occur in U.S. hospitals each year, making fall prevention one of the most important safety considerations in modern patient care. Beyond the potential for serious injury, patient falls can create additional challenges for caregivers, healthcare facilities, and the patients and families they serve.

Reducing that risk begins with an environment—and equipment—designed around safety.

ROTEC's VersaTech Med-Surg and Bariatric hospital beds are engineered with patient safety incorporated throughout the platform. From ultra-low positioning and exceptional stability to durable construction and caregiver-focused functionality, VersaTech is designed to support safer care without compromising performance.

Below, we explore the engineering and design features that help make the ROTEC VersaTech Smart Hospital Bed a compelling choice for organizations seeking advanced safety, durability, stability, and long-term performance.

Ultra-Low Profile Hospital Beds for Greater Fall Prevention

ROTEC's focus on durability is complemented by one of the VersaTech platform's most distinctive safety features—its ultra-low 8-inch bed height. By bringing the bed closer to the floor, VersaTech is designed to help reduce the potential distance of a fall while creating a more accessible position for patients preparing to stand or transfer.

Patient-centered features further enhance the experience. Auto-contour positioning allows patients to adjust the bed for greater comfort, while integrated under-bed lighting provides additional visibility during nighttime bed exits.

When preparing to stand, the ultra-low position can also help appropriate patients establish secure foot contact with the floor before beginning the transfer—an important consideration for confidence, stability, and safer mobility.

By combining ultra-low positioning, intelligent safety features, and rugged construction, the ROTEC VersaTech platform delivers an advanced approach to patient safety without sacrificing durability or performance. It's a design philosophy centered not only on what a hospital bed can do, but on creating a safer and more supportive care environment for both patients and caregivers.
