The more families we work with and the more healthcare facilities we enter, the more one thing continues to concern me:
The limited amount of training people receive on the medical equipment they use every day.
Too often, families have invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars in a hospital bed, wheelchair, patient lift, specialty mattress or other equipment — yet they have only been shown the basics.
But what about positioning, transfers, caregiver safety, equipment features, room setup and understanding how the equipment can actually support the person being cared for?
What works for one person does not necessarily work for another.
And sometimes families don't need another piece of equipment. They need someone to show them how to get the most out of the equipment they already have.
This matters for caregivers, too.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare and social assistance reported approximately 553,800 nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses in 2024. OSHA also recognizes patient lifting, transferring, repositioning and awkward postures as significant risk factors for musculoskeletal injuries in healthcare.
When we enter a home or facility, we're looking at more than the equipment.
Who is being cared for?How are they transferring? How are they positioned? What is the caregiver struggling with?Does the environment work with the equipment? And what might this person's needs look like six months from now?
Through CFS Medical Supplies & Equipment, Inc., we help identify appropriate medical equipment solutions.
Through CFS Solutions DBS Consulting, we take it further with equipment consultation, education and training for families, caregivers and healthcare organizations.
Because delivery should not be where education ends.
No matter how much you spend on medical equipment, if you don't know how to use it, you're missing part of its purpose.

Equipment. Education. Comfort. Safety.
